Madagascan Kitchen Loft

An elderly woman in her Sunday best, softly illuminated by a tiny window, sits in a smoke-blackended Kitchen loft of a typical three-level Madagascan house. The window light barely penetrates the darkened room…but it is a warm and peaceful place, beside the fire hearth and above a quiet house with a busy village lane outside the window. The woman sits quietly, quite compact and content, with the hint of a shy smile. She is neat and serene in amongst the grime and blackened, charcoal smoke-stained timbers. She is complete, in her “feel-good” space.
