Quadrant Gallery + Art Advisory reopens after a two-year closure, presenting INNER REACTION, a joint exhibition by Tony Jackson and Cetta Pilati of paintings, metal sculptures, photographs (limited edition prints) and marble assemblages.
Tony Jackson RMIT ID and B. Arch. graduate and finalist of Evergreen Photography Prize and New North Photography Prize. His works, including limited edition photography and paintings which have been included in curated exhibitions throughout Australia and China are in public and private collections in Australia and overseas.
Jackson combines his love of photography and painting in this series, that explore the layers of perception. Creating layers for the viewer to explore and evoke differing emotional responses within the same work, all mixed together with abstraction and realism. You feel his sense of wonder driving these works layered from the surface phenomena of the process of rusting.
Cetta Pilati RMIT BFA graduate, an award-winning artist and Montalto Sculpture prize finalist who specialises in metal sculpture and marble assemblages (trained in Ravenna, Italy). Her works have been exhibited throughout Australia with creations of various commissions for both the private and public sectors.
Pilati’s cellular artwork series is part of an unfolding and ongoing body of work in response to learning about the “Biology of Change: from DNA to Happiness”. Her sequenced circles representing cells duplicating and dividing and other cells moving off into the expanding universe creating new paths. Her artwork process uses traditional hands-on, labour-intensive techniques producing a forgotten simplicity in timeless works of art.
Jackson and Pilati’s joint exhibition provides a complementary visual experience in terms of medium, colour schemes, and individual stylistic approaches. Whereas Jackson’s works focus on the exploration of layers of perception evoking inner reactions, Pilati’s focus is on the ability of how inner choices can create the path of flow in one’s life, resulting in the spreading and sharing of such simple joy.
Jackson is the Director of Quadrant Gallery & Quadrant Design and Pilati is the Manager of Quadrant Gallery + Art Advisory.
