Bronze Sculpting Workshop with Ross Miller

This is an introductory course using the lost wax process.

Participants will design/construct a figurative or non figurative form in wax. 

Participants will complete this short course over 4 sessions, breaking for 2 weeks whilst works are cast at the Garage Art Foundry. The casting process is included in the price, along with all materials.

Come along and discover the process of designing and constructing your very own bronze sculpture!

Life Model Sculpting Workshop with Ross Miller

Learn the process of producing a figurative sculpture, involving clay figure modelling from a live model. Mould making and casting a ciment fondu sculpture.

Session one: 4 hours
Introduction:  Armature  construction /Establishing the pose (standing figure)
Learning to look and see. Composition and Form.
 
Session two: 4 hours
Refining and modelling the figurative form.
 
Session three: 4 hours
Completion of modelling and Mould making.
 
Session four: 4 hours
Splitting the Mould. Casting with ciment fondu.
 
Session five: 4 hours
Removing the waste Mould. Finishing the sculpture.

Acrylic Painting Workshop with Barbara Bateman

Introduction to Acrylic Painting:
​

Students will learn to use a variety of Acrylic mediums and techniques to achieve particular effects e.g. such as wet on wet, opaque painting, plastic properties, gel medium, retarders and texture paste. 

Students will learn the techniques and skills to complete a small still life painting during this class.

- 1 Medium Diamond Shaped Painting Knife
- A palette, either plastic or paper.
- Water Sponge
- Old credit card for scraping

- Watercolour paint sketchbook suitable for acrylic paint 
​- 1 small gesso canvas board (6x8in)
- Cotton rags
- Ruler
- Roll of Gladwrap
- 2B lead pencil

Portrait Painting with Clive Sinclair

This portrait class will be run over one day, learning the skills and techniques to paint a portrait from a live model!

It will be in the Renaissance style with established artist Clive Sinclair to guide you.

'Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain' with Kathie Mathes

This workshop will be based on the books by Betty Edwards. It is a series of drawing exercises observing and developing the way we look at everything. Students will learn to switch the brain across to the right side to better develop their drawing skills.
