Carnival of Dreams
28 July - 20 August
Exhibition Opening: Thursday, 28 July, 6-8 pm
I continue to explore dark and alternate realities with a sense of wonder, appreciating my existence and all that is.
This journey into my subconscious draws me back to childhood mysteries and abstractions – the discovery of unfolding layers as I became aware that everything has deeper meaning. These artworks explore a re-connection with my cerebral journey – to reconnect myself and the viewer with that childlike experience of wonder with mischief and humour.
I share this journey with the viewer, inviting you to feel this expression of my curious path through personal struggle, and to appreciate every moment that we exist in this world. A story is told, a sense of magic rediscovered.
I am pulled into dreamscapes of phantom lives existing in dramatic emotional worlds. Dolls, effigies and carved figures have a carnival freak shown appeal that is curious and melancholic, always inviting questions.
These images tell of a surreal carnival existing in an odd world inhabited by fun and crazy characters. I give a vantage point for us to ponder and explore the freak show that is often played out in our dreams.
These images are a source to tap into our own dreamscape journeys which started in childhood. These resonate and echo throughout our lives – mine is immersed in the layers of these images, exploring the curious and leaving the viewer with their own sense of wonder.
