When Two Worlds Collide
10 July - 2 August 2014

Life, death, renewal: the universals of existence. These works contemplate how these elements would look in parallel worlds.

These images bring to life my sense of wonder as a human perceiving our world, imagining that we cannot exist alone in this astounding universe. In these works, I consider the moments when we trip over these parallel worlds, and when they may occasionally collide with our souls - the moments when our reality and these other worlds collide.

I have long enjoyed surreal concepts based upon the duality of perception – if you can’t perceive it, you can’t prove it exists. These images contemplate a possible beauty and fragility of other worlds, and the interwoven nature of all existence – the collision of the human observer’s perception with a sense of wonder.

Environments and inhabitants are intrinsically linked. Those that dwell in the forest necessarily affect and respond to each other in subtle and bold dances. Does our interaction with our perceived world impact multi-worlds? Can the result of these collisions be captured in moments, in fragments, of human perception?

These works are based on traditional photos of forests which have been morphed through human conception into digital art – an artistic collision.
