No 7. Mary RAPHAEL, Deep Outback - Nullarbor Plains, acrylic on canvas, 90 x 60 cm, $ 750
The vibrant greens and blues of the ocean and the warm ochre tones of the Nullarbor contrast beautifully in this painting of a wild and deserted coastline with fingers and rocky outcrops reaching into the sea. Grains which look like sand have been used to add texture to the plains and the area where the sea meets the land is accentuated with crisp white paint depicting the white water.
Having very fond memories of a bus trip across to Perth many years ago, I enjoy being treated to a bird’s eye view of this awe inspiring landscape.
The exhibition is current until Saturday 3 May 2014
