It’s been a while since we have posted a blog, but I thought it was well worth creating one for this…
2020 has had a pretty dramatic start!
The bushfires have been, and still are, horrendous and the season is not over yet. The scale of the fires and areas covered is something none of us imagined.
The loss of human life, wildlife, livestock, homes and properties is heartbreaking. For those directly involved, whether fighting the fires, dealing with loss, caring for the people and animals affected by the fires, the efforts will continue on long after the fires are out. While there have already been wonderful acts of generosity by political parties, private businesses and the general public, the amount needed won’t be finite – ongoing support, in so many ways, will be needed for years ahead.
The art world is doing its bit too…quite a number of galleries are either creating donation sites or exhibitions to raise money. While Quadrant Gallery is currently not exhibiting publicly, our Website Blog and Facebook page are still active, so we have the opportunity to ‘spread the word’.
We have heard from some of our artists regarding different fund-raising opportunities, so I am forwarding the information on to you…
This applies to artists and art lovers. Details for donation or participation are in the information featured, so please use the contact details provided there.
Donald Ramsay’s work is featured in the appeal from the Geelong Art Gallery. This artwork was inspired by the artist’s personal experiences during the Black Saturday Fires.

Another of our artists, Warren Nichols forwarded information from the Gipplsand Art Gallery . This is an opportunity for artists who may want to participate, and art lovers who may also want to partake in the auction or visit the exhibition.
There is too much information to include in this blog, however if you go to
http://www.gippslandartgallery.com/exhibitions/ you will find out about the exhibition and how to enter as an artist (it's not too late), entry form, how works can be delivered etc. and when the exhibition is taking place. There are a number of options open, if you want to help.
There is also an update on the information from Gippsland Art Gallery on Deborah Klein’s Artist Blog.
