Exhibition Highlight of the Week: “Isa Brown” (no. 13, bronze on stone base, edition of 5, $350) “Isa Brown” represents the neighbours’ super-friendly Isa Brown chook. It would wander over into the sculptor’s yard, greet him at the door, and follow him into the studio, where it would perch on a stool observing the artist at work with attentive curiosity. The sculpture pays homage to the hen which met a rather untimely end after an unfortunate encounter with a fox. The work showcases Miller’s sharp observational skills and his masterful ability to capture and convey the kinetic energy and characteristic movements of the bird. “Isa Brown” has been popular—with only three editions remaining. The exhibition is current until Saturday, April 2. View exhibition online at http://www.quadrantgallery.com.au/ross-miller-people-place--time-2016.html |
