Exhibition Highlight of the Week: Regina Hona: “Melbourne Town Hall II” (no. 16, charcoal on paper, 50.0 x 40.0 cm, $1,900).
“Not every subject lends itself well to a dynamic monochrome subject, but I though the contrast here and decorative archway made for an appealing subject.” View the exhibition online at http://www.quadrantgallery.com.au/regina-hona.html. The exhibition is current until October 24. We are pleased to announce that Regina Hona will present an artist's floor talk about her current exhibition, Seeking Melbourne, on Saturday, 17 October, at 2pm. This is a free event, no bookings required, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Exhibition Highlight of the Week: Regina Hona: "At St Kilda Marina" (no 17, pastel on paper, 40 x 50 cm, $1,900).
Regina Hona is best known for her beautiful award-winning waterscapes. She writes about “At St Kilda Marina”: “Melbourne would not be complete without including a subject close by in the bay, and it allowed me to also indulge my love of painting water reflections.” View the exhibition online at http://www.quadrantgallery.com.au/regina-hona.html. The exhibition is current until October 24. Congratulations to Roger Arnall, whose work, "The Trump Tower, New York" was judged as the winning entry in the "Black and White" section of the "2015 USA Photographer of the Year" competition. Arnall's "World Trade Centre, New York" was judged as "Highly Commended" within the same section of the competion - http://www.usalandscapephotographeroftheyear.com/winners-galleries/view/year-2015 _
A lovely article by Emma Shaw in the Leader magazine on our current exhibition of recent paintings and works on paper by Regina Hona.
Exhibition Highlight of the Week: Regina Hona: “Madonna at St Patrick’s Cathedral”, “Saint at St Patrick’s Cathedral” (nos. 14 and 15, oil on linen, 41 x 41 cm, $1,550 each).
“I believe art has enriched our history and allows me to grow in the pursuit of my art. We all experience places in different ways and see different things, but perhaps through my art I have allowed to understand Melbourne from another perspective. My love of portraiture shines through interesting headstops of at St Patrick’s Cathedral. There are so many sandstone Headstop faces over its doorways and windows. The one I really loved reminds me of the face of the Virgin Mary. Another one is of a saint—St Thomas More do you think?” View the exhibition online at http://www.quadrantgallery.com.au/regina-hona.html. The exhibition is current until October 24. Quadrant Gallery WILL BE OPEN on the Grand Final Eve Public Holiday, Friday, 2 October, from 10 to 4 pm - our new exhibition of recent paintings and works on paper by Regina Hona, "Seeking Melbourne" will be on view.
